Hebron Academy Athletic Center
In the mid-nineteenth century, John Calvin Stevens designed several buildings for Hebron Academy. At the turn of the twenty-first century, Stevens’ successors at SMRT are back on campus to design a new Athletic Center. Hebron wants this new building to stand for their future, while honoring their past. SMRT found inspiration right on campus, in the Sturdevant Hall tower. Drawing on the old brick tower’s proportions and details, SMRT’s glass re-interpretation is pure 21st century. The new Athletic Center provides invaluable space for recreation, growth and competition. It also embodies Hebron’s heritage and promise, its yesterday and its tomorrow.
"We worked with professionals who listened to our hopes, our dreams, and our concerns, and who designed a building that fulfilled and exceeded all of our program expectations."
