Southern Maine Medical Center - Dorothy Walker Bush Pavilion
Dedicated by President George H.W. Bush and named in honor of his mother, the new Pavilion reshaped the image of the 1979 hospital, more than doubling the size of the facility's emergency department and allowing for expansion of its surgical services area to meet the demands of Maine's fastest growing county. SMRT partnered with the hospital to seamlessly integrate ongoing patient care needs with complex expansion and renovation plans. The project included:
- a new front entrance to the hospital
- 29 ED treatment rooms
- a separate urgent care treatment area
- a separate entrance and treatment area for mental health crisis patients
- an expanded surgical services area
Bringing in natural light to the heart of the ED will lift the spirits of staff working in this facility.
