Westover Armed Forces Reserve Center
The Westover AFRC is comprised of multiple buildings serving as a joint training facility for the Army and Marine Corps Reserve forces and the Massachusetts National Guard. The project was designed to Department of Defense Gold SPiRiT energy standards, aligned with USGBC LEED requirements.
Considerations for energy efficient design were melded with the requirement to reflect the appearance of the base's original 1940's era Neo-Georgian architecture.
High efficiency mechanical systems, lighting, building envelopes, glazing, and use of natural light are a few of the strategies employed to reach Gold design standards.
