Miss Porter’s School Case Study
Situated in the historic district of Farmington, Connecticut, the Miss Porter’s School campus contains only three athletic fields, all remote to the campus proper. As playing conditions were deemed unacceptable to both home and visiting teams on all fields, immediate improvements to all three fields were warranted.
Working under an extremely tight time schedule, the Sports group at SMRT designed and engineered the improvements to include not only the new synthetic turf fields, but also included utilities, support buildings, parking and stone walls, ornamental fencing, signage and other landscape enrichments to respond to the historic character of each field’s setting. Significant permitting services at both the state and local level were required and provided in an accelerated fashion to maintain project schedule. The project was successfully completed in one summer, allowing uninterrupted play for the student athletes.
