Puerto Rico Juvenile Facility Case Study
SMRT provided procurement documents for the design and construction of a new full-service, 600-bed juvenile correctional facility. The facility will house pre- and post- adjudicated juveniles. Males, females and the four classifications within the population require separation from each other. The facility is designed along an education model and includes a full program of support spaces including classrooms, library, healthcare and mental health services, and full Court facilities. The project will be realized as part of a Public Private Partnership delivery model (P3), so the team developed all of the bridging documents including full schematic design, technical performance specifications and give-back requirements.
