St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center Surgical Pavilion Case Study

“Have the OR suite up and running in under 24 months.”

SMRT’s master planning process identified surgical upgrades as a capital improvement priority. Funding approval carried one caveat: to complete the project in less than 2 years.  To meet that directive, SMRT designed and delivered the phased renovations on schedule using a modified Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) method.

Maximizing the use of environmentally responsible materials, the team helped the hospital earn a first-in-state distinction for achieving Advanced Building Design standards for energy efficiency. The project also received the Brick in Architecture Silver Award for the creative use of brick which drew inspiration from the community’s textile manufacturing history.
