Woodlands Inn at Edgewood Case Study
The new Woodlands Inn provides the Edgewood LifeCare Community with enhanced living and memory supported households for senior residents. The facility is designed around the “small house” model of care, which is founded on principles to de-institutionalize long term care facilities to the benefit of residents and their families.
The warm, home-like environment enables a meaningful connection to community and empowers residents to maintain their highest level of independence, autonomy and sense of purpose. Each of Woodland’s four households contains a 10-bed home centered around community spaces, including a central hearth, an open kitchen and dining area, courtyard and gardens. The kitchen is designed to engage residents in meal preparation and common living spaces enable a variety of engaging activities.
