Bangor Savings Bank Headquarters
In an effort to consolidate onto one campus from three separate buildings, Bangor Savings Bank moved to a new administrative headquarters and operations center overlooking the Penobscot River. SMRT led the MEP engineering and landscape architecture effort, focusing on long term sustainability. Primary features include a closed loop geothermal heating and cooling system with eighty bores and a 1,400-panel solar array. Use of heat pumps, a perimeter radiant floor heating system, low water plumbing fixtures, LED lighting inside and out, light harvesting sensors, integration of HVAC/Lighting/Shade controls, high efficiency ventilation air system, all contribute to energy savings. Moving outside, the landscape was designed to preserve existing trees, use local species to improve drought tolerance, and use durable materials while enhancing the south facing hillside landscape.
