Husson University Wellness Learning Center

SMRT worked with Husson University to design its multifunctional student wellness center. The space includes an experiential learning area with a simulation center and lab for the university’s Nursing, Occupational Therapy, and Physical Therapy programs, as well as a clinical area for students to seek healthcare and/or counseling services.

Designed with wellness support as a top priority, the building is located in the central campus circle, surrounded by landscaping with views of the surrounding trees, providing direct access to nature. The clinical and educational groups share a common lobby, which is flooded by daylight and accented with a nature mural. They also share classroom space, a staff and faculty break room, and two restorative spaces labeled as quiet rooms, which are available to all.

The new 7,000-square-foot building replaced multiple locations that housed these services. SMRT provided complete building design including architectural design, interior design, structural, plumbing, mechanical, and electrical components as well as schematic landscape design for the building.
