JCI Advanced Battery Plant
As a market leader in the emerging lithium-ion hybrid vehicle battery market, Johnson Controls (now Clarios) built the first manufacturing facility in the United States producing large-scale, complete lithium-ion battery cells and systems.
The 235,000 square-foot plant with 61,000 square feet of Dry-Cleanrooms in Holland, Michigan, includes a pilot plant and large-scale manufacturing.
SMRT provided architectural, mechanical and electrical engineering for the critical clean/dry rooms designed to withstand -40 degree Celsius dewpoint humidity and ISO Class 6 cleanliness.
Project Highlights
First plant in the U.S. to produce complete lithium-ion battery cells and systems.
