Martin’s Point Health Care Medical Office Buildings

Between 2013 and 2016, SMRT designed three medical office buildings (MOBs) for Martin’s Point Health Care.

These next-generation MOBs support Martin’s Point’s mission to achieve the Institute for Healthcare Improvement’s (IHI) Triple Aim: to simultaneously improve population health and improve the patient experience while lowering the cost of care. This series of medical office buildings supports a team-based care model where a broad spectrum of physicians, advanced practice professionals and care coordinators deliver care in an open, collaborative work environment.

Utilizing a process of standardization and prototyping, the team achieved iterative improvements to the design with each new MOB and realized significant savings in both time and cost.

“Lean” principles, a core client value, informed the programming and design model, which allows patient volume to flex over time while maintaining optimal staff efficiency.
