New Hampshire Correctional Facility for Women

A federal court order mandating parity in accommodations and services between male and female offenders drove the design and construction of this new, 224-bed women’s correctional facility.

Located in Concord, NH, adjacent to a male prison, the new campus-style facility provides unique housing opportunities facilitating a smooth step-down process and successful re-entry into society.

The design is centered on rehabilitation and includes a state-of-the-art health care unit with a focus on mental health services. The design aesthetic promotes the principles of restorative justice, including healing and normalization for inmates. These principles are supported by the incorporation of natural light and views, colors and fewer institutional materials and furnishings.
