Allagash Scarborough Tasting Room & Brewhouse

Allagash Scarborough Tasting Room & Brewhouse

Steeped in the brewing legacy of Belgium, the impetus behind Allagash Brewing’s new tasting room design celebrates the rich brewing heritage as well as the brewer behind it all.

At the center of the new space will be an experimental brewing area, featuring historical equipment acquired from a Belgium brewer. This area will extend from the building at a distinctive angle to frame the entry. The brewing footprint is inspired by the original space of the acquired equipment. Copper kettles, visible from the interior and exterior, will frame the entry, welcoming visitors for an immersive experience.

The building is framed with a glu-lam structure, seamlessly connecting the exterior to the interior. In the summer, a glass wall will open to blur the boundary of the interior and surrounding landscape.

With sustainability at the forefront, Allagash engaged SMRT early in the process to design and engineer a fully electrified brewing system, eliminating the need for fossil and reinforcing Allagash’s dedication to environmentally conscious practices.
