Augusta State Facilities Master Plan

Augusta State Facilities Master Plan

Recognizing the need to plan for future challenges posed by climate change, the State of Maine engaged SMRT and DLR group to update their master plan, originally developed by SMRT in 2000. The updated 2040 plan reflects current conditions and provides a framework to achieve the objectives, goals, and strategies described in the Stateโ€™s 2020 Climate Action Plan.

The 20-year plan supports a broad range of strategies, including embracing the future of transportation in Maine; modernizing Maineโ€™s buildings, making them energy-efficient, smart, and cost-effective to operate; investing in climate-ready infrastructure; engaging with Maine communities about climate impacts and program opportunities; and providing historic preservation recommendations.

The master plan includes approximately 2 million square feet of facilities across approximately 305 acres managed by the Department of Administrative and Financial Services through the Bureau of General Services.
