Grafton County House of Corrections

Grafton County House of Corrections

SMRT utilized value engineering to achieve operational savings and meet sustainability goals for this replacement facility designed for inmates with special needs, minimum, and medium security requirements.

Safe prisoner movement was enhanced by this facilityโ€™s direct attachment to the county courthouse.
Core service areas, including food service, laundry, and visitation, were sized to accommodate additional housing pods, allowing the county to double its inmate population.

Sustainability priorities for this project included geothermal heating and cooling, high-efficiency gas-fired condensing boilers, heat recovery systems, and daylighting.
