Based on the patient-centered collaborative care model, this 25,500-square-foot medical office building provides a team-based, continuous, and integrated care delivery platform.
SMRT worked with leadership and clinical staff to design a hybrid clinical hub model that allows providers to work alongside clinical staff in a collaborative zone while also offering private provider offices nearby. The floor plan is divided into four identical clinical hubs organized around a central waiting area.
Access to daylight in the interior spaces is maximized throughout the facility with skylights, clerestory windows, and borrowed lights. These design features lower energy consumption, create a sense of openness, and increase staff satisfaction. This high-performing building was the first in Maine to earn an incentive rebate from Efficiency Maineโs Advanced Building Program due to its 98% efficient heating system and extensive use of daylighting.
The interior design reinforces the practiceโs relationship with the community, referencing its sledding and snowshoe history.
