SMRT Announces Leadership Promotions

We are excited to share the news of four well-deserved leadership promotions in our firm. Their remarkable dedication, advanced technical skills, and passion for creating exceptional outcomes for our clients have made a lasting impact on the firm’s continued success.

Philip Chaney, AIA, NCARB – Principal  
Philip Chaney is a talented architect with an innate ability to recognize the potential of any given site or space. A conceptual thinker, he expertly translates complex challenges into exceptional project outcomes. With over 14 years of experience, Phil has contributed to numerous award-winning architectural projects across New England. His work includes notable projects such as Bangor Region YMCA, Northeastern University, The Roux Institute, USM Residence Hall and McGoldrick Center for Career and Student Success, and UNE College of Osteopathic Medicine, Harold and Bibby Alfond Center for Health Sciences. 

Jeana Stewart, NCIDQ, LEED AP, WELL AP – Principal
Jeana Stewart is the director of SMRT’s workplace practice and is a nationally certified interior designer. A perceptive, strong communicator, she brings energy, vision, and the latest research in designing and planning contemporary workplace environments. Working collaboratively with project stakeholders, she ensures that the workspace and the process used to design it speak directly to an organization’s unique culture, values, and ROI goals. Jeana’s portfolio includes projects for clients such as L.L. Bean, Aroma Joe’s, and Hannaford. She has been published in High-Profile Monthly, offering insight on SMRT’s Portland office WELL certification.

Chuck Dudas, PE, LEED AP, CPHC – Associate Principal
Chuck Dudas brings more than 18 years of mechanical design and construction experience across various project types. He began his career as a construction manager, where he gained an appreciation for practical and uncomplicated solutions. As a mechanical engineer, Chuck has been involved in designing high-performance, energy-efficient mechanical systems throughout his career, including Net-Zero, LEED Platinum, and Passive House Certified projects. His work includes notable projects such as UMaine Green Energy and Materials Building, Tyler Technologies Orono Building, Mount Desert Island Hospital Central Utility Plant, and Our Island Home.

Lance Lowell, AIA, NCARB – Associate Principal
As the SMRT Schenectady Office Leader and a project architect, Lance brings over 13 years of proven leadership experience in managing federal, healthcare, and education projects across the northeast. He also serves as the firm-wide Building Information Technology (BIM) Manager, championing the integration of BIM tools to foster collaborative, interdisciplinary approaches within our architectural and engineering practices.
