In pursuit of enhancing student well-being and hands-on learning, SMRT partnered with Husson University to design a multifunctional student wellness center. The space includes an experiential learning area with a simulation center and lab for the universityโs nursing, occupational therapy, and physical therapy programs and a clinical area where students can access healthcare and counseling services.
Located in the central campus circle, the building was designed with wellness support as a top priority. Landscaping and scenic views of the surrounding trees provide occupants with direct access to nature. The clinical and educational groups share a common lobby flooded by daylight and accented with a nature mural. They also share classroom space, a staff and faculty break room, and two quiet rooms available to all for rest and relaxation.
The new 7,000-square-foot building will replace multiple locations that formerly housed these services. SMRT provided complete building design, including architectural and interior design, structural, plumbing, mechanical, and electrical engineering components, and schematic landscape design.
