At SMRT, our people are at the heart of everything we do, and today, we’re thrilled to celebrate the advancement of three remarkable leaders in our Portland and Bangor offices. Their dedication, expertise, and passion for design excellence have not only shaped our firm’s success but continue to push innovation across the architecture and engineering industry.

Ben Halleck, PE – Principal  
Ben Halleck is a senior mechanical engineer and project manager at SMRT, leading design and technical efforts for advanced technology facilities. Ben’s experience spans diverse sectors that include microelectronics, defense, aerospace, IT, life sciences, automotive, and additive manufacturing, working with clients to understand what they need, what they want, and how to make it happen. Before joining SMRT, Ben served for 10 years in the U.S. Navy’s nuclear submarine community.

Bradley Baker, AIA, CPHD, NCARB – Principal
Bradley Baker is the sustainability leader and a senior architect at SMRT. As a certified Passive House architect with over 17 years of experience, he is deeply committed to carbon reduction and environmentally conscious design. As the firm’s sustainability leader, Bradley is instrumental in developing SMRT’s sustainability practice, including energy, whole-life carbon modeling, and environmental justice, providing clients and project teams with essential data for responsible, cost-saving decisions. His portfolio includes work with Aroma Joe’s, University of Maine, Portland Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Care, Athol Hospital, Colby College, and Holyoke Medical Center.

Lura Wade, PE, LEED AP, RCDD – Principal
Lura Wade is SMRT’s electrical engineering discipline leader, specializing in the design, planning, and management of electrical distribution, telecommunications, data networks, and lighting systems. As a Registered Communication Distribution Designer (RCDD), Lura is recognized as an expert in designing communication networks that seamlessly integrate with other infrastructures. Lura has designed electrical systems for diverse commercial, educational, civic, and healthcare clients, including Bangor Savings Bank Headquarters, Husson University, L.L. Bean, and the University of Maine System.
