As Director of Engineering, James brings four decades of experience in engineering integrated building mechanical systems. He founded Petersen Engineering, inc., now an SMRT company, and continues to connect MEP/FP systems with building science, building enclosures, and integrative design processes, aligning technical performance with the priorities of building users, clients, and owners. James has served as Principal-in-Charge on 70 large-scale Passive House projects.
James currently serves as President of Passive House Massachusetts and sits on the HCA Portsmouth Hospital Board of Directors, advocating for high-quality community health care.
