Michael Chonko

A veteran mechanical engineer and head of SMRT’s government practice, Michael has over 30 years of experience designing HVAC systems for clients in government, corrections, research, manufacturing, and other operations facilities. A valued voice in the industry, he provides technical peer reviews of mechanical systems for SMRT commissioning projects. Michael is also an Industry Group Advisor to the U.S. Department of State Office of Overseas Building Operations (OBO).

Joining SMRT in 2000, Michael is adept at assessing and designing complex building engineering systems. He is respected by colleagues and clients for bringing creativity and common-sense solutions to project teams. Michael is passionate about high performance building solutions and was a founding member of SMRT’s sustainability council. He takes pride in finding innovative ways to design healthy indoor environments with energy-efficient HVAC/plumbing equipment.
