NextStar Energy Electric Vehicle Battery Plant
NextStar Energy, a joint venture between LG Energy Solutions and Stellantis, is a leader in Canada’s electric vehicle (EV) battery industry with the establishment of the country’s first large-scale EV battery plant in Windsor, Ontario. This facility supports Canada’s transition to EVs by meeting a substantial portion of the vehicle production needs in the region. This plant produces cutting-edge lithium-ion battery cells and modules. NextStar aims to exceed an annual production capacity of 45 gigawatt-hours and generate approximately 2,500 new jobs in the area.
The $5 billion (CAD) investment in this cutting-edge plant underscores its importance as a catalyst for similar facilities across Canada, aiming to unlock greener energy use nationwide.
