Plaistow Regional Health Center Medical Office Building

Plaistow Regional Health Center Medical Office Building

This project allowed Exeter Hospital and Core Physicians to consolidate multiple off-campus outpatient services in Plaistow, New Hampshire, and offer growth opportunities within its Regional Healthcare Center Model. The new medical office building contains:

  • Family medicine
  • Permanent and rotating specialties such as orthopedics
  • Adult and pediatric rehab
  • Physical therapy
  • Occupational therapy
  • Imaging (X-ray, MRI, and mammography)
  • Laboratory and phlebotomy
  • Future space for pediatrics and expanded specialties

The site offers the potential for procedure space and is permitted for a second building to be a same-day center for surgeries (an ambulatory care center).

SMRT worked with Exeter Hospital, Core Physicians leadership, and clinical staff to define the needs and building requirements of the practices and align with contemporary healthcare trends and best practices. Building on a collaborative care model, the plan responded to the demands of an evolving healthcare system.

The medical office building consolidates different practices with distinct needs while maintaining flexibility through a design based on a standardization model that SMRT developed with Exeter Hospital. All patient treatment spaces are formed on a 120-square-foot module to allow for future flexibility. Provider offices and clinical work areas were also standardized throughout the building.
