Portland Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Care

Portland Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Care

Portland Veterinary and Specialty Care (PVESC) is expanding to meet the growing needs of the greater Portland community with a state-of-the-art, 42,000-square-foot facility in Falmouth. This highly efficient building will serve as a hub for veterinary emergencies and specialty care, offering around-the-clock services for dogs and cats across Maine and New England.

Through an integrated design process, SMRT incorporated an electrified VRF (variable refrigerant flow) mechanical system that offers high efficiency and significantly reduces building emissions, promoting health and well-being for the building occupants and the greater community. The project reduces the building’s carbon footprint through selective materials procurement, prioritizing eco-friendly and high-recycled-content materials. Other sustainable pieces include infrastructure designed for future solar arrays, bird-safe glazing, and an optimized thermal-efficient façade.
