Womenโs Care Florida (WCF) wanted to increase collaboration between the workplace and laboratory environments while moving towards automation in its 17,000-square-foot renovation of this equipment-intensive facility.
By migrating from a labor-intensive manual loading testing protocol to a fully-automated line with multiple chemistry stations, WCF wanted to achieve higher throughput while reducing manual movement and improving ergonomics.
The open lab plan houses histology, cytology, molecular, and clinical diagnostic functions, and a genomics-based suite for Non-Invasive Pediatric Testing (NIPT). The interior design incorporates modular, demountable, pre-wired partitions for complete flexibility.
SMRT provided a full range of architecture, engineering, and interior services.
