SMRT provided architecture and engineering services for three new facilities at the Schenectady Army Reserve Center. The buildings included a 60,670-square-foot LEED Certified Army Reserve Center Training Building, a 5,306-square-foot Organizational Maintenance Shop (OMS), and a 2,590-square-foot Unheated Storage building (UHS). Supporting site amenities include a vehicle wash rack, military equipment parking, and a privately owned vehicle parking area.
The project incorporated sustainable features, including a photovoltaic solar array, high-performance mechanical and geothermal systems, and an energy recovery system dedicated to the outside air. A high-thermal-performance envelope was also designed to ensure the buildings were energy efficient.
