University of Maine New Balance Field House and Memorial Gym
With a goal of attracting top athletes, driving revenues and sponsorships, and elevating the user experience, SMRT was engaged to design the renovations for the University of Maine’s historic athletic facilities.
To maximize limited state funding, SMRT guided the university to concentrate on the field house, which maximized limited state funding and led to a spacious new entrance lobby, a certified NCAA-compliant indoor track facility, renovated locker rooms, athletic staff offices, and upgrades to mechanical and electrical systems. Natural light floods the interior through restored original windows that had been covered for decades.
