Armed Forces Reserve Center Ceiba

SMRT led the design team for this fast-track design-build project lauded by the US Department of Defense for its design, efficiency, and operational alignment. The Ceiba AFRC comprises a training building, a vehicle maintenance shop, a storage building, and a wash bay.

SMRT designed the building envelope and HVAC systems to withstand an extreme tropical coastal environment for heat, humidity, and corrosion. The team chose locally manufactured, pre-cast panels for the exterior to minimize construction time and costs. The complex features educational and administrative spaces, an armory, and a fitness facility. The center incorporates Anti-Terrorism Force Protection (ATFP) standards and has achieved LEED Gold certification.
