WEX Global Headquarters

WEX is a rapidly expanding fintech company with a global footprint and local roots. SMRT has a longstanding relationship with WEX, having previously designed their former headquarters more than 15 years ago. More recently, SMRT worked with the WEX team and their furniture vendor to develop global space planning standards, implemented across WEX properties worldwide, including at their new global headquarters.

WEX’s global headquarters on Portland’s waterfront houses a workforce of 400 employees. SMRT designed the interior fit-out of this 90,000-square-foot, tech-enabled work environment focused on employee well-being. The workplace is designed to encourage wellness through movement, offering flexible breakout spaces, large gathering areas, conference space, and a 20,000-square-foot rooftop deck.

The color and materials palette and integration of artwork and graphics were sensitively coordinated with WEX to create a unique sense of place that is welcoming, contemporary, and tech-focused.
